In 2022, the World Without Mines Foundation was able to look back on 25 years of commitment to a mine-free world. The Foundation Board had already decided in advance not to provide any funds for an anniversary celebration, but to use them instead for demining.

At that time, no one had any idea that these funds would soon be needed nearby. With Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the great danger of mines and explosive remnants of war became immediately visible to the public. The World Without Mines Foundation reacted immediately and was able to implement two emergency aid projects in Ukraine together with its long-term partner organization The HALO Trust.
